Ford Theater began on NBC in October 1947 with an hour-long adaptation of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, moving to CBS in 1948 under producer Fletcher Markle. The hour format let it stage novels and plays at close to full length, with casts including Burgess Meredith and Marlene Dietrich. Recordings here are public domain.
