The Radio Planet · the rehearsal room
The Rehearsal Room
The run-through, then the broadcast. Hear a joke land in the studio hours before the country heard it — or fail, and get cut.
Networks recorded rehearsals for timing, and audition discs to sell a series that did not exist yet. A few of both survive. Every card here holds two transfers of the same programme: the rehearsal or audition, and the aired version. The pairing is drawn from air dates and transfer titles as they stand in the archive — where a run-through has no matching broadcast, it simply is not here.

How the pairs are made
A transfer is treated as a rehearsal or audition only when its own title says so. It is paired with an aired broadcast from the same series that carries the same air date or the same episode title. Nothing is matched by guesswork, and episodes whose plots merely involve a rehearsal are not counted.
